One Health for Humans, Environment, Animals and Livelihoods (OH4HEAL) program is attending Somalia One Health Conference (SOHC-2024). This is a second scientific conference organized by the Somali One Health Center, Abrar University with the theme “Empowering One Health Workforce to Drive Positive Change for Somalia and the World”. The conference managed to convene high ranking senior government officials of Somalia including ministers and state ministers as well as renowned scientist and One Health (OH) practitioners across the globe. The Regional OH4HEAL team shared its OH experience in the Horn of Africa (Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia). The experiences shared among other things include:

  • A glimpse at the livestock production context in the Horn of Africa (HoA)
  • OH4HEAL: Architecture
  • Salient features of HEAL
  • Pillars, institutional arrangement and partnership with the government of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia
  • So far accomplishments
  • Results of client satisfaction surveys/ exit interview
  • Evidence: a glimpse at notable success stories and promising practices
  • Challenges, lessons and aspirations.
