The OH4HEAL program in partnership with the County Government of Isiolo and other partners are in the process of developing the five years Isiolo County One Health Strategic Plan (2023 – 2028). In an opening remark, Mr. Mohamed Ali Boru, the Deputy county secretary and NGOs coordinator says “One health approach is the way to go now for Isiolo County, it is an umbrella for bringing all stakeholders together”. The planning workshop held in the period 9th-14th July 2023 came out with a draft of the strategic plan, which is expected to be finalized and adopted soon.
The strategic plan will provide detail directions to the attainment of the County’s longer term vision in respect to One Health. Furthermore, it is expected to strengthen multidisciplinary and multi-sector collaboration, coordination and communication, inform design of one health related programs and interventions, enhance community engagement and participation and encourage research to adopt new and emerging practices. The strategic planning exercise has attracted the attention of other NGO partners like CRS, NAWIRI, WFP and ACF who already have pledged to work in partnership with AMREF and VSF-Suisse within the framework of OH.
