One Health for Human, Environment, Animals and Livelihoods (OH4HEAL) program has completed the preparation of One Health (OH) training modules and launched the first round of the Training of Trainers (ToT) in Addis Ababa on March 6, 2023. A total of 28 participants drawn from government officials serving in the One Health Task Force (OHTF) of four districts and the three consortium partners (VSF-Suisse, Amref Health Africa and ILRI) are attending the first round of the training (March 6-10, 2023), which dwells on:

  • Principles of OH
  • Systems thinking in OH
  • Data driven decision making in OH
  • Multi-sector collaboration and coordination in OH, and
  • Participatory community engagement in the provision of OH services.

The training is facilitated by two senior professionals (Dr. Siobhan Mor | HEAL Lead at ILRI | a reader in OH at University of Liverpool and Mamusha Lemma, capacity building specialist). This training will be followed by another 4 days training (April 4-7, 2023) on “Gender, OH and Culture” and 3 days training (April 10-12, 2023) on “Standard Operating Procedures”. The same training packages are scheduled for Kenya and Somalia participants in Nairobi within March and April 2023.  The training is designed in “Tiers” so that trainees can cascade it to practitioners in One Health Units (OHUs) and the community at large.
